Those tips will make sure you have the right furniture. There are however some more things to consider, especially when making your furniture last longer.

If you want your outdoor furniture, like wicker patio chairs to last even longer than advertised, considering storing them. In times of harsh weather you can store them in the garage or basement. Constant weather exposure will degrade even the hardiest furniture. By putting them away before a storm or a winter, you will also reduce the amount maintenance required. It can be difficult if you have heavy or large cumbersome pieces but you can always get some extra help to put them away.

If your furniture is easy to put away or is portable then you could even consider keeping the furniture stored away and only bring it out when it will be used. This type of care will add years to the life of your furniture. While it is nice to look outside and always see your outdoor area, if the furniture is not used all the time, it is unnecessary wear and tear from exposure.
